Deposit Information

At HomeStart, we know that saving for a deposit is often one of the biggest hurdles you will face when buying a home.

To help you overcome this challenge, we have put in place several options to help relieve the stress that saving for a deposit can cause. It's our way of giving you a little extra help to get you on your way to home ownership.

At HomeStart, we lend for the purchase of an established home, for land, or to build a new home. For people who are looking to buy an established home and who meet the necessary criteria, HomeStart requires little or no deposit. You may only need to cover the cost of HomeStart's fees and charges. We are able to accept the First Home Owner Grant towards your deposit and/or fees and charges.

Also with HomeStart loans, you will need to demonstrate $1,000 or more of your own savings (over at least three months) or you will need to demonstrate a minimum 12 months satisfactory rental history through an independent third party (such as a private landlord or a property manager linked to a real estate company).
