Our corporate profile

Starting out, starting over,
start with HomeStart

HomeStart Finance was created by the South Australian Government in 1989, as a response to high interest rates and a lack of affordable home loan finance.

Established as a statutory corporation under the Housing and Urban Development (Administrative Arrangements) Act 1995, our charter is to provide affordable home ownership solutions to the community, including low to moderate income earners.

HomeStart reports to the Minister for Housing, the Hon Patrick Conlan MP. We work closely with the Department for Families and Communities, a portfolio responsible for the policy administration and operation of family and community services, disability, ageing and housing.

What we do

We take a proactive approach to addressing housing issues by creating innovative home finance products, which assist South Australians to overcome the barriers to entering the housing market.

We also provide support for education and skills development programs, and offer sponsorship to local community groups. Our sponsorship activities enable us to foster relationships with these groups while gaining a greater understanding of their needs.

We pride ourselves on offering all of the services of a home loan lender, with a strong customer focus. Our dedication to solving home ownership issues means that we continually create, review and revise ways to make home ownership a reality for more South Australians.
